SMS Consent & Messaging Policy

How ApptGuard handles SMS appointment reminders on behalf of service businesses and their clients.

Last updated: July 20, 2026  ·  Operated by Nihnyx DBA ApptGuard

Who Sends These Messages

ApptGuard is a software platform operated by Nihnyx that enables service businesses (salons, barbershops, med spas, dental offices, tutors, and similar) to send automated SMS appointment reminders to their own clients.

Messages are sent on behalf of the business that the client has an existing relationship with, not by Nihnyx directly. The business owner is responsible for ensuring their clients have consented to receive SMS communications.

How Consent Is Obtained

ApptGuard captures documented, timestamped consent at the point an appointment is created, rather than relying on an unrecorded assumption:

This creates an auditable consent record tied to each client, with a timestamp and the method by which consent was captured, rather than a one-time acknowledgment made during account setup.

What Messages Are Sent

ApptGuard sends only transactional appointment reminder messages. No marketing, promotional, or unsolicited messages are sent. A typical message looks like:

Hi Jane, reminder: you have an appointment on Thursday, May 15 at 2:30 PM with Glamour Studio. Reply YES to confirm or NO to cancel, or STOP to unsubscribe.
Message TypeFrequencyTrigger
Appointment Reminder1–5 per appointment, depending on the business's planAutomatically sent before appointment

How to Opt Out

Clients can opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying to any message with:

Opt-out requests are processed immediately and automatically by our SMS provider (Twilio). Once a client opts out, no further messages will be sent to that number from that business.

Opt out is always free and takes effect immediately. Standard carrier message and data rates may apply.

Message Frequency & Rates

Message frequency varies based on the number of appointments a client has scheduled and the business's ApptGuard plan. Businesses may send between one and five reminder messages per scheduled appointment, depending on their plan tier.

Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier plan. ApptGuard does not charge clients for receiving messages.
